Denis Defrère (Belgium) is associate professor at KU Leuven where he teaches exoplanet science. He is an expert in exoplanet imaging and high-contrast stellar interferometry. He currently leads the ERC-funded SCIFY project to build a new high-contrast instrument for the Very Large Telescope Interferometer (VLTI), located in the Atacama desert in Chile.

Within the ORP project, he is leading WP16 TA10 VLTI Support to provide improved user services and user access (both virtual and direct) for new VLTI capabilities. The main goal is to enable user access beyond the instrument teams and expand the user base of the VLTI.
